Microdermabrasion is a system that allows a flux of inert, natural, mineral crystals (Corundum Powder) to be shot out onto the surface of the skin where it abrades dry, dead or redundant cell tissue with little trauma and high precision which has been heretofore unattainable with other techniques. It also stimulates the collagen under the surface of the skin, regenerating epidermal structure and boosting elasticity.

The dead skin cells, along with the crystals, are immediately “sucked” or vacuumed back into the sterile hand piece which in turn, flows back through soft, plastic tubes to the aspirator, which provides both the force of velocity of the crystals against the skin and the reverse removal of the skin cells by suction. All of this activity is performed in seconds, allowing the therapist to move in precise patterns. The operator has total control over the velocity force of the crystals and also the suction force via a special foot operated compressor which can increase the abrasion to a progressively deeper level (near the peripheral capillaries) or decrease the abrasion to affect only the stratum corneum, leaving light trails of pinkish stria which vanish in a few minutes!

MICRODERMABRASION TIPS:

SPECIAL TIPS ON CARING FOR THE TREATED SKIN AREAS

• Do not use any acid or Retin A for 48 hours.
• Keep the skin very clean and well moisturized as recommended by your Aesthetician.
• Remember, the new, fresh skin which has been exposed will be delicate.
  Protect it from the sun by using a SPF (sun protection factor) of at least 45 or more. This is advisable for any skin. Keep perfumes, etc., away from treated area.
• Use only Post-Treatment products recommended by your Aesthetician. Please, do not use anything that has not been cleared with Whispering Waters Day Spa during the healing phase. Do not use products with fragrances on or close to treated area. Do not use bleaching products for at least one week after microdermabrasion.
• Remember the rule of thumb - if any products cause a burning sensation after having had a microdermabrasion, rinse them off immediately.
• Make-up application is allowed after microdermabrasion.
• Exposure to sunlight or tanning beds is strictly  prohibited for the first 48 hours.

What To Expect After Treatment:

Level 1 – Beauty Flash – Regeneration of the epidermal cell structure with collagen stimulation. The skin may feel tight as if exposed to the sun or wind for a day or two after treatment. Keep skin well moisturized, use sunscreen and avoid direct sun for 48 hours.
This machine has been especially beneficial in the reduction or removal of stretch marks, including the breast; hyperpigmentation (brown discoloration), fine lines on facial skin, around the mouth area and broken capillaries (face). The face peeling with microdermabrasion results in obviously clearer, very smooth-textured skin immediately after treatment. The gentle nature of the abrasion allows any part of the face or body to be treated. Small, raised scars or shallow scarring from acne or chicken pox can be gently smoothed and leveled without the chronic discoloration common to conventional dermabrasion techniques. Any skin type or skin color can be treated. As the operator is in complete control of the depth and intensity, ethnic skin can be treated as successfully as less delicate types.
